As he advises in one of his earlier stories, one should always take the time to read slowly and enjoy the words, in the same way that you should enjoy a great meal. I followed his advice and do not regret it. Each little story gives you a moment where you will pause to think about one of your own life experiences or to learn from Darrell's. Each chapter in this book is a delight!!! Darrell Norman is one of those gifted newspaper reporters who never lost sight of the simplicity of words in telling a good story. You'll think you are right there with him at the breakfast bar, drinking coffee, as he tells you about his many adventures! Some will amaze you as he talks about his service and his mates....other times he takes the ordinary and describes it so profoundly you feel you are there with him in that old Volkswagen bus tootling down the country's backroads....I give this book a Five Star rating but it is definitely a TEN!!!
This book is so well written that I feel like the author is sitting with me telling about his life. I love getting lost in these stories.
This book is wonderful. It's the kind of book you want to share with everyone you know. Some essays are very funny. Some are thought-provoking. Some are terribly poignant. All are extremely well-written.
